Their Thanksgiving buffet left much to be desired. Much of the food just wasn't very good: the sweet potatoes were canned, the desserts were store-bought, the dressing was over-peppered, the buffalo short ribs had a nice flavor but were very fatty, the cranberries were bitter, etc. The turkey was moist and the pumpkin pear bisque was good. Finally, charging 18% gratuity for two people on a $45 buffet was outrageous. The food was so disappointing we had a little of each dish and left unhappy.

In a city of amazing food, I don't expect a lot from a hotel restaurant and bar, but Amaya was a surprising find. The bartenders and servers were all kind. The cocktails are creative. We had breakfast here one morning - enchanting breakfast burritos filled with tasty meats and potatoes, and smothered in red and green chile sauces - delightful! Very chill ambiance, super friendly people, and great food. Yep, it's a good experience!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Santa Fe, and this is the restaurant within the hotel. It is amazing. I had actually seen one picture of this restaurant in a magazine and the food sounded amazing so I already wanted to go there, it was a double plus that it was located in our hotel! Food is so good!!!! Cocktails are great!!! Dinner service is super!!!! I got the enchiladas and they are some of the best I've ever had! My husband got the halibut and I loved it too! He ate it all! For being in the desert, the fish was outstanding!! Cannot give this hotel a better review for dinner! I also had a jalapeño margarita and it is very original and tastes great if you don't mind some heat:) We are here for breakfast and I didn't care for it as much. Different staff and cooks. The menu really isn't for breakfast. This is really just an excellent dinner serving restaurant!

I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday. We traveled from Colorado Springs. I am very pleased and felt this was a memorable and unique experience. I came specifically for the Hotel's entertainment, Ronald Roybal. He is a Native American flute and Spanish guitar player. He plays guitar for the first set and then switches to flute, using some guitar recordings for accompaniment. I don't think there is anyone in the world with that skillset and would not be surprised to see this musician in a large concert hall. The intimate setting was great. I have to say everything was to my liking. I came for the music, but the dinner dazzled me. I had a trio grill of rattlesnake/rabbit sausage, bison steak, and quail. Everything was grilled to perfection. There was mashed potatoes, spinach, asparagus, a carrot, and some snow peas. All was excellent. In addition, we got a bottle of Spanish Rioja off the wine list. I like dry wines, and this wine was simply spectacular. To top it off, the service was immaculate. Very friendly servers who were very to happy to have us there. I felt welcome and at home. One server even exchanged some banter and a funny story that put us at ease. After dinner, we sat and listened to the remainder of Ronald Roybal's set and even purchased a few CD's. Whether you go for the music or the food or both, you will not be disappointed. I intend to come back here the next time I am in town. If you're a Santa Fe resident, I don't know what you're waiting for. This was by far my best experience in my stay in Santa Fe.

Phenomenal, and the BEST Sangrias (Not even Seville/Spain) measures up to them. Now I am bias, our friend Ronald Roybal plays the Native American flute here, so the ambiance is extraordinary!!! The great kiva room is fab for meeting friends and listening to live music, if you are lucky and he is there :))). If you want to take the true Santa Fe experience with you, I suggest you get on of his CD's. You will end up moving here!!! :) The service is amazing, these are the most lovely damsels in town. We have been going for years and the Prix Fix is the best deal in town. STiILL the Chef refuses to divulge the secret of their amazing green chili corn bread ;( I keep on asking...you never know :) Trepidations about eating in a restaurant located in a hotel? DON'T BE. During peak times, make reservations. There is parking, and if you stay in the hotel, their little purple car or van takes you anywhere in town :))) GO!! Do it NOW:))))

Quiet outdoor seating with plenty of space between tables. Superb service. Wonderful bread and butter served before the meal. Was the food excellent? No, but it was good and the lack of hustle and bustle was relaxing after the rigors of the plaza and other places that are crowded and noisy. An oasis in an unexpected place.

We went for lunch, so I can't speak to how dinner is. It may be spectacular. Lunch wasn't. My mother-in-law was eager for a Native American experience, and this was the best we could find. Service was spotty -- a glum, unsmiling host balanced by a kind and friendly waitress and some attentive drink refilling. The food was okay, but nothing spectacular. Husband had the fry bread, which was fine, but lacking...something. I had a salmon salad which was quite nice but nothing to write home about. My mother-in-law picked the bison burger, which may have been the best of our picks. Pretty delicious, especially with all the green chiles. Glad we didn't splurge for dinner here, as I suspect it would have been equally average. Don't think we'd plan on going here again.

This is a review on the bar only, and not the restaurant. Every once in a while, I like to kick back with a chilly drink with visiting friends before they have to go back to their city, state, or country of origin. I usually end up taking them to the bar at Amaya because it's really kick back, has couches, and the drinks are reasonably priced. You can have a low key conversation and hear yourself think instead of the more "busy" (ie... loud) bars and clubs in the downtown Santa Fe area. And if you LIVE downtown, it's more than convenient to walk back to whichever hotel your guests are staying at. I like it, but still only hit this place up a few times a year because it's all about the context wou want to portray to your visiting guests.

This is one of my top 3 places for lunch in Santa Fe. I take clients knowing they'll find something memorable on the menu. I often get the Picuris (named after the pueblo) chicken salad and also LOVE the tortilla soup. This place is subtle and sweet - and very southwest. It's not an east coast or west coast style - it's truly southwest. In the summer, the outdoor patio with the native flower gardens and tipi make it an even better attraction for my out of town guests.

We stopped in for dinner on a weeknight, and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in quite a while. First, the positive comments: 1. The outdoor seating area is quite nice. 2. The wait staff are very friendly and try to be helpful. 3. The prix fixe menu is quite inexpensive. That's where the pep talk ends. Perhaps it was a bad night, but Amaya seems to be suffering from bad management. First, it was chaos at the reception desk; in addition to the host there seemed to be three or four other people doing seating, and none of them seemed to be communicating with the others. Second, the wait staff did not really seem to be up to the task of working at a fine restaurant; for example, when I asked a question about one of the wines on the list, the waiter's answer was to bring us the bottle to look at. I don't blame the staff, because clearly they have not been properly prepared to work in a supposedly nice restaurant. Then there was the very odd cork incident. The bottle of wine that we ordered had a problem with the cork, which disintegrated upon removal, but the waiter was able to salvage the bottle. A few minute later, he brought us a cork from a different bottle and set it on our table! It was worth a good chuckle, but not exactly indicative of fine restaurant practices. And then there was the food. My salad was badly overdressed (to the degree that the dressing almost choked me), and the grape tomatoes on the salad were sad and wrinkly. For main I ordered the poblano chili stuffed with tofu and roasted vegetables. This dish had absolutely no flavor! The only reason I am giving two rather than one star is because the desserts were decent, the staff tried hard, and my wife also enjoyed her soup. But I would definitely not recommend the place to anyone.

I won a gift certificate to Amaya in a raffle, so I went there for dinner on September 21, 2009. Nice place but it was smaller than I would have guessed for a hotel of their size. The food was good. I had the roasted chicken which was delicious, but my portion was rather small. My companion had the steak which I was told was also very good and was a much bigger portion than my meal. Appetizers were also good and fair sized portions. We did the pre fix dinner which included dessert and if I hadn't checked the bill they would have double charged us for dessert. If I had people visiting me, I would bring them there.
